Osang Healthcare, KAIST, and Nano Technology Institute jointly develop PCR test for sexually transmitted diseases

The RIGHT Foundation Research and Development Project Joint Research Institution Selected

Osang Healthcare announced on the 7th that it has been selected as a joint research institution by the RIGHT Foundation for a “research and development support project for sexually transmitted infection diagnosis.”

The research project selected this time is Osang Healthcare's point-of-care molecular diagnostic (POC-MDx) technology, which it is promoting as a new business. Osang Healthcare will collaborate with Professor Jung Ki-hoon's research team from the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the Nano Comprehensive Technology Institute (NNFC) to conduct joint research on the development of sexually transmitted infection testing products based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, receiving 2.16 billion won in support from the RIGHT Foundation over three years.

The RIGHT Foundation is an international health technology research fund jointly established by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (Bill Gates Foundation), and Korean biotech companies. It supports the development of technologies such as vaccines, treatments, and medical devices for the treatment and diagnosis of infectious diseases in middle- and low-income countries.
